Biocontrol technologies S.L.

Biocontrol Technologies, is a microcompany founded by three University professors, the social participation of the University of Barcelona and Venture Capital (Uninvest-Unifondo). The Company recieved institutional support from the Government of Catalonia and Spain (Neotec, Enisa, Torres Quevedo and ConvoParques).

  • (2015) Distribution agreement between Biocontrol Technologies and Kwizda-Agro in the Eastern countries of Europe. Kwizda-Agro, Leader Company in the distribution of fertilizers, plant growth promoters and plant protection products in EU Center and East. Kwizda-Agro offers to the growers new technologies adapted to the global market without residues and respectful with the environment.
  • (2015) Inclusion of strain T34 of Trichoderma asperellum in Annex IV of EU Commission Regulation EC Nº 369/2005 concerning the maximum residue levels of pesticides.The Regulation EC Nº 369/2005 of the Commission of 11th June included the active substance Trichoderma asperellum (strain T34) in the Annex IV of Regulation EC 396/2005, as substance free of residue (residue 0), not pathogenic to humans and that is not expected to produce toxins that can affect human health
  • (2015) Distribution agreement between Biocontrol Technologies and Biobest US. Biobest is a world leader in the distribution of biological solutions to control pests, diseases and in pollinating bees. Biobest is the company that distributes in the United States Asperello T34 Biocontrol. At this time, the plant protection product authorizations in US are for protected cultivation of ornamental plants against diseases caused by Fusarium, Rhizoctonia, Pythium and Phytophthora.
  • (2014) Distribution agreement between Biocontrol Technologies and Shoura Chemicals in Egypt. Shoura Chemicals is a leader Company in the distribution of plant protection products. Shoura Chemicals is the company that is distributing Biocontrol T34 to the Egyptian growers. At this time, the plant protection product authorizations in Egypt (Registration number 1718) are against Botrytis in grapes, soil borne plant pathogens in French beans and Rhizoctonia in potatoes.
  • (2013) The Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) Nº 1238/2012 approved the inclusion of the active substance of Trichoderma asperellum strain T34, in Annex I of Regulation EC No 1107/2009 concerning the placing of plant protection product on the market.
  • (2012) Distribution agreement between Biocontrol Technologies and FARGRO, Ltd in United Kingdom. Fargro, Ltd. Is a leader Company in the distribution of biopesticides for use in horticulture in the United Kingdom. Fargro has introduced T34 Biocontrol ®, initially authorized for carnation, that obtained a further authorization for ornamental crops against Fusarium. The approval for edible crops againstPythium will be obtained in February- March 2016.
  • (2012) T34 Biocontrol is authorized as plant protection product in Canada. PMRA (Pest Management Regulatory Agency) has approved the authorization of T34 Biocontrol as plant protection product to be used in ornamental plants (Registration numbers 30228 and 30229).
  • (2012) Provisional authorization for sales of T34 Biocontrol in the United Kingdom. The plant protection product T34 Biocontrol got a provisional authorization for sales in United Kingdom (MAPP 15603, authorization number 0218 of 2012), waiting its inclusion in the Annex I. This strain is the first Trichoderma authorized as plant protection product in the United Kingdom.
  • (2011) T34 Biocontrol is authorized as plant protection product in United States. EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) has approved the authorization of T34 Biocontrol as plant protection product to be used in ornamental plants (Registration number 87301-1).
  • (2010) Completeness check of the application of the inclusion of asperellum, strain T34 as active substance to be used as plant protection product. In the publication of the Official Journal of the European Union L52/51 the Commission Decision recognized the completeness of the dossier submitted after detailed examination in view of the possible inclusion of Trichoderma asperellum, strain T34 in Annex I of the Directive 91/414/EEC.
  • (2009) Obtention of a Loan for projects developed in Scientific and Technological Parks. Biocontrol Technologies, S.L received a loan from the Ministry of Science and Technology for companies established in Scientific and Technological Parks. (Plan Nacional de Investigación Científica, Desarrollo e Innovación Tecnológica 2008-2011).
  • (2009) Biocontrol Technologies, S.L. was awarded with the prize Senén Vilaró as the year’s innovative spin-off of the University of Barcelona. The jury awarded the model of development of Biocontrol Technologies, S.L. based on technology transfer project and market opportunity. This project was advised by Foundation Bosch Gimpera.
  • (2009) Obtention of a Participative Loan from ENISA (National Innovation Company).
  • (2007) ENISA 25th anniversary awards. Biocontrol Technologies SL. was selected among 219 candidates as finalist in the 25th anniversary of the establishment of ENISA.
  • (2006) I+D UNIFONDO makes the first investment in R&D. Biocontrol Technologies was the first investment of this capital funds, managed by Uninvest.
  • (2005) Barcelona Activa awarded the business plan of Biocontrol Technologies. The business plan of Biocontrol Technologies was awarded for the development of innovative activity with potential for growth in the city of Barcelona.
  • (2005) Obtention of a NEOTEC loan from CDTI (Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology). Biocontrol Technologies, S.L was granted by CDTI from the Ministry of Industry.
  • (2002) Capital Concept awarded by CIDEM (Centre for Innovation and Business Development), currently ACCIO (Generalitat of Catalonia). This award was obtained for the project: Substrats Bioactivats (Bioactivated Substrates), through the Technological launch of University of Barcelona.
